I recently started a new position at work with more responsibilities. It came with a significant pay increase and health benefits, which leaves me feeling blessed.
However, there have been moments when some coworkers leave me frustrated, adding on tasks to my plate which doesn’t fall in my job responsibilities. In the past, before using Black Lotus, I would have given in to rage and spiralled with negative thoughts.
Instead, I got frustrated, noticed I was frustrated, took a deep breath and made some tea to recenter myself. While drinking my tea mindfully, I contemplated the situation at hand with my coworkers and my workload. I was able to finish all my work tasks already in time and assisted my coworkers with the tasks they needed with a smile. I was given an opportunity to help them, why be upset at a chance to be kind?
Furthermore, I realized a solution to help my coworkers better complete the tasks they needed to get done without needing my intervention for the future. They were happy to hear of it and we now can continue to work in harmony moving forward.
Suffering is optional, and taking a moment to gather oneself before reacting can help us become more compassionate.
